This project explores how virtual worlds can be overlaid onto the physical environment, imagining multiple universes coexisting within the same spatial area. Rather than guiding participants through verbal instructions, the project adopts the structure of a treasure hunt. A mobile map directs participants to specific locations around the school campus, where physical artworks are discovered. When scanned, these works emerge from flat printed materials, allowing virtual content to surface directly within the actual space.
In developing this system, the campus was deliberately simplified and translated into a pixel-based drawing instead of being represented through detailed scans. This abstraction became a key strategy for imagining the virtual metaverse. Through this process, it became evident that the more abstract the visual representation of the virtual world, the more space is left for participants to imagine and engage with the newly constructed environment. Rather than realism, visual effects and abstraction played a greater role in shaping how people perceived and emotionally responded to the augmented space, influencing the way they analyzed and experienced the physical surroundings.
