Digital Fog

2022 · Performance · Seoul

Digital Fog is a performance in which two dancers embody “birds” within a digital space. Through their movement, the birds generate clouds in the sky, with the density of the fog changing according to the distance between them—thickening as they approach each other and dissipating as they move apart. The performance introduces two key experiments. First, the dancers’ forms are translated from human figures into the shapes of birds, exploring how human movement is transformed when expressed through non-human, avian bodies. The choreography was developed in response to these transformed forms, allowing the dancers to adapt their movement language accordingly. Second, the relationship between the two dancers is expressed as an encounter between a flock of birds: as the dancers draw closer, clouds accumulate, and as they separate, the fog gradually thins, making spatial relationships and proximity perceptible through visual change.
