If Your Words Become the Stage maps Playtron onto the performance stage using conductive tape. The dancers’ shoes were modified to allow electrical signals to pass through their bodies, enabling the system to detect moments of physical contact. When two dancers moved across the stage and encountered each other, an electrical signal was generated and transmitted to a computer. The project translates moments of encounter—when individuals meet and “speak” through movement—into sound. As the dancers come together, these encounters trigger musical signals, allowing choreography, contact, and music to flow together as a single interactive performance.
